General information
Codorníu Cuvée Original Brut Ecológico pays homage to the first cava made by Josep Raventós in 1872, using the native Catalan varieties macabeo, xarel·lo, and parellada.
Today, these varieties are organically grown, contributing to the natural expression of each one, preserving the wine's typicity. With 9 months of aging on the lees, this creamy and fruity cava reveals the potential and balance of its coupage, and features on its bottle a serigraphy from the year 1551, commemorating the birth of the Codorníu saga.
Founded in 1551, Codorníu remains a family winery to this day. After 18 generations of success, the firm continues to reflect in its wines the history and tradition of its ancestors, a philosophy that has positioned them at the forefront of cava and wine production in Penedès. In addition to its winemaking heritage, it also boasts cultural heritage; its cava in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, designed by Puig Cadafach, is considered a key work of Catalan modernism and was declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument in 1976.
Codorníu Cuvée Original Brut Ecológico (D.O. Cava) is ideal for accompanying simple and lightly seasoned dishes, such as grilled fish and white meats, papillotes, or sautéed vegetables.
