Codorníu Clásico Semiseco is an exceptional cava made from the three traditional varieties in the Denomination of Origin Cava (macabeo, xarel·lo, and parellada), with an addition of 40 grams of sugar per liter in the expedition liqueur. The semi-dry version of a classic and timeless cava.
Originating from the area with the most Mediterranean climate of the D.O., where the native varieties fully express their typicity, the grapes used in the production of Codorníu Clásico Semiseco were harvested and fermented separately, according to their optimal ripening times. Subsequently, after their blending, the obtained wine rested for nine months in the underground cellars of the winery, to then undergo the riddling and disgorging process, along with the dosage of a certain amount of expedition liqueur, which determines its residual sugar content and, therefore, its semi-dry cava category. The result is a fruity, fresh, and very balanced cava.
Since Josep Raventós produced his first bottle of cava in 1872, the projection of Codorníu has been unstoppable, evolving with the new times, adapting production to the new market tastes, and always valuing traditional production and the history of the winery. The group, which has wineries in different denominations of origin, has established itself as one of the great ambassadors of wines and cavas from our country.
How to pair Codorníu Clásico Semiseco? This sparkling wine under the D.O. Cava is perfect to enjoy on its own, as an aperitif, or accompanied by small bites, such as assorted canapés, savory tartlets, or a handful of nuts.
It presents a beautiful pale straw yellow color. With fine and elegant bubbles.
On the nose, we find the typical fruity aromas of traditional varieties: apple, pear, and citrus.
