General Information

A true vinous gem and a benchmark in Graves, the Bordeaux region from which it originates. Château Haut-Brion Blanc 2017 is crafted with care from grapes grown on the 44 hectares of Premier Cru vineyard owned by Château Haut-Brion in the village of Pessac. The finest sauvignon blanc and semillon grapes reach their maximum varietal expression in this superb white wine, further perfected after an aging process of 13 to 16 months in new oak barrels. The result is sublime—a Bordeaux white with great aging potential and outstanding ratings from top critics, including the 97 points awarded by the American wine guru Robert Parker.

Founded in 1525 by Jean de Pontac, Château Haut-Brion is the oldest of the five Premiers Crus from the world-renowned Bordeaux wine region, and the only one in the historic 1855 Wine Classification that does not belong to the Médoc. Another distinctive feature of this house, part of the A.O.C. Pessac-Léognan, is its innovative and pioneering spirit, which led it to become the first winery in its category to introduce new stainless steel fermentation tanks in the 1970s. Its wines were also the first Premier Crus to reach the United States, brought by none other than the third president of the country, Thomas Jefferson.

The winery

Château Haut-Brion (Premier Grand Cru Classé) is a true legend, and its wines are highly sought after by collectors. Located in Pessac, in the Graves region, just a few kilometers from the city of Bordeaux, it is renowned for its excellence, consistency, and innovation (it was the first château in the area to use stainless steel tanks). The origins of Château Haut-Brion date back to the 16th century, and throughout history, it has been owned by several illustrious proprietors.

Since 1935, it has belonged to the American Dillon family. The technical management has been carried out by several generations of the Delmas family. At the château, red grape varieties such as cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc dominate, forming the basis for their iconic red wines. They also produce white wine using sauvignon and sémillon grapes.
