The new vintage of Ceramic Monastrell Criado en Tinaja: the essence of old vines and ageing in clay vats for a unique, award-winning red wine.

The two previous vintages of this red were a huge success at Vinoselección, so we couldn't miss the opportunity to present the new vintage of this ‘rarity’ from the D.O. Valencia. Ceramic Monastrell Criado en Tinaja 2023 captures in a bottle the essence of old Monastrell vineyards, one of the country's finest native grapes, and embraces a growing trend in ageing that draws on tradition: clay vats. Previous vintages of this wine have won awards such as gold medals at Mundus Vino and the Berliner Wine Trophy.

General Information

Monastrell has managed to position itself among Spain's great native grapes. This variety, which is predominant in the eastern coastal region, is the basis for Ceramic Monastrell Criado en Tinaja 2023, a red wine whose name – Ceramic, from the ancient Greek keramiké, meaning ‘made of clay’ – is a reference to its particular ageing method. It was grown on dry-farmed old vines, the most valuable kind due to their concentration, and matured in clay vats, which give it a unique character closely bound to tradition.

Founded in 1885 in Valencia, Vicente Gandía is one of the largest and most important wineries in that region, a firm that remains true to its roots and is currently run by the fourth generation of the family. Its facilities are equipped with the most advanced technology, and it practises sustainable cultivation in its vineyards (850 hectares, including its own and those under its control). Its commitment to the world of art is another of its characteristics.

Its wines, which are modern in style, are characterised by their excellent value for money. It is also a winery with a strong international focus, present in more than 90 countries.

Founded in 1885 in Valencia, Vicente Gandía is one of the largest and most important wineries in the Valencian Community, and today is present in nine of the most renowned Spanish designations of origin. A company that, on the other hand, maintains its family origins and is currently led by the fourth generation, with Javier Gandía as General Manager. It has facilities equipped with the most advanced technology, while in the vineyard (850 hectares, both owned and controlled) it is committed to sustainable cultivation. It remains faithful to its founding values: contributing to the progress and well-being of society by focusing on quality and innovation, without forgetting tradition. Its commitment to the world of art is another of its defining characteristics.

Its wines, with a modern style, are made with international varieties as well as native ones, such as bobal, and are characterized by offering an excellent quality-price ratio. Furthermore, it is a winery with a clear international vocation, with its wines present in more than 90 countries.
