General Information

Bodegas Castaño has achieved that the wine region of Yecla has reached a great level of quality and reputation. And this has been accomplished with wines like Castaño Macabeo Chardonnay 2023, a white wine made with a meticulous selection of macabeo and chardonnay grapes from their own vineyards located in Murcia. With separate vinification, the production process of this white wine stood out for the chardonnay resting in French oak barrels for two months, which gave the wine intense and pleasant notes of white and tropical fruits and an excellent balance.

In 1950, Ramón Castaño Santa founded a family winery that would break all stereotypes and become, decades later, a benchmark in the Mediterranean wine sector and a leader in the Denomination of Origin Yecla. Today, Bodegas Castaño has a heritage of 600 hectares of vineyards and 90% of its wines are marketed internationally.

Under the D.O. Yecla, Castaño Macabeo Chardonnay 2023 is a smooth and balanced white wine ideal for pairing with seafood, smoked fish, and grilled white meats. It also pairs well with salads of fresh goat cheese, tomato, and basil.

Creators' opinion

The winery

Bodegas Castaño
Bodegas Castaño is one of the benchmarks in the Mediterranean wine sector and a spearhead of the D.O. Yecla due to its trajectory and achievements with the area's native varieties, primarily monastrell.

Ramón Castaño Santa founded the winery in 1950. In the mid-seventies, he acquired his first vineyards, and in 1980 he began bottling. After several generations connected to the world of wine, the Castaño family has successfully adapted the legacy of previous generations by incorporating new technologies and the most modern winemaking systems to enhance their magnificent viticultural heritage. Currently, they have 600 hectares of vineyards and market around 90% of their production in the international market.
