General Information

The new winery of Bodegas Familiares Matarromera in the D.O. Ribeiro is called Casar de Vide and is located in Castrelo de Miño (Ourense). Here, they produce Casar de Vide Treixadura 2024, a blend led by the treixadura grape complemented by other native varieties. The vineyards supplying the grapes—5 hectares—are situated in the areas of Castrelo de Miño and Cenlle (Ourense) and were planted between 1990 and 2000 on sandy-siliceous soils, which are excellent for the ripening of this variety.

The vineyards were selected for their proximity to both banks of the Miño River, with different orientations allowing the treixadura grape to express different nuances: freshness in the shadier orientations and a riper profile in areas with greater sun exposure.

Ribeiro, a designation of origin located between Rías Baixas and Valdeorras, has been regaining in recent years all the historical splendor that for centuries positioned it as the most renowned production area in Galicia and a symbol of Spanish white wines. The recovery of traditional endemic varietals, with the treixadura grape as the flagship, well-supported by other local grapes such as torrontés, has elevated ribeiros to one of the most sought-after white wines in Spain and attracted the attention of major winery groups, such as Bodegas Familiares Matarromera.

Casar de Vide is located in Castrelo de Miño (Ourense), just a few meters from the river and in the very heart of the D.O. Ribeiro, in a picturesque setting dotted with vineyards on gentle slopes. The winery covers an area of 2,200 square meters and was built in 1988 with granite stone next to the historic house founded in 1957. A firm that has seamlessly combined technology, modernity, and classicism.

The white wine Casar de Vide 2024 (D.O. Ribeiro) is perfect to pair with baked sea bass, clams in marinara sauce, and steamed cockles.

Tasting notes

Bright pale straw yellow color with green and steely reflections, clean and very bright.

On the nose, it is straightforward, intense, and very direct, with hints of freshly cut apple, green banana peel, apricot, and soft touches of white flowers and carnation. Tropical notes of pineapple. Citrusy background of grapefruit.

On the palate, it has excellent length and balance, with fresh Atlantic notes, a lively acidity, and the rich aromatic sensations of the palate, where clear hints of fresh apple and peach are perceived, with a long, lively, and balanced finish.
