Carlos Moro Finca Picón de Zurita 2016 is a unique red wine that embodies the tradition and expertise of the Carlos Moro family. A know-how recognized in its various editions with high ratings from critics, largely due to the exceptional vineyard that gives the wine its name.
Picón de Zurita is a flat estate with sandy loam soils that have survived phylloxera. The average age of these vines is 100 years, making it one of the oldest vineyards owned by Bodegas Carlos Moro in Ribera del Duero. Its advanced age requires special care, limited production, and manual harvesting.
The grapes selected for the production of this magnificent red wine underwent three selection tables before fermentation in stainless steel tanks and subsequent malolactic fermentation in barrels. Once fermented, the wine rested in new French oak barrels for 18 months.
CM Finca Picón de Zurita 2016 is undoubtedly one of the greatest labels that form part of the Vinos de Finca, the new project by Carlos Moro focusing on single-estate wines, an initiative that highlights native grapes, expressing the utmost authenticity of each variety.
Intense cardinal color with purplish reflections, very high layer.
On the nose, notes of tart black fruits, Indian ink, and dark chocolate emerge, giving way to woods, sweet spices, and toasted notes.
The palate evokes fruity and spiced memories of clove, thyme, and new woods.
