Although it is globally renowned for its exceptional cavas, Bodegas Gramona can boast an interesting portfolio of still wines, among which Bru Pinot Noir 2017 stands out, the only red wine they produce.
Born from the first experimental pinot noir vineyard planted in the Penedès in 1988, it is a young single-varietal wine, an example of organic and biodynamic farming, aged for 8 months in new French oak barrels and further refined in the bottle for at least one more year.
Over a century of tradition and excellence in winemaking is the impressive legacy of Bodegas Gramona, a Barcelona-based winery located in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. Their creations have garnered the highest scores and accolades. Due to its organoleptic characteristics, Bru Pinot Noir 2017 is the ideal choice to accompany red meats, game birds, and hearty dishes.
Medium layer, it displays a beautiful garnet color with a raspberry rim.
Intense and concentrated nose where ripe forest fruit aromas (blackcurrant, blackberry) stand out in the forefront, with a pleasant floral memory (violets) that later blends with the notes from aging (vanilla, pepper, tobacco leaf, and hints of chocolate).
The entry on the palate is powerful with marked astringency. Medium-bodied with an enveloping passage, the black fruit, spices, and a touch of tapenade reappear on the retronasal route. Long and lively finish thanks to its good acidity.
The Gramona family represents five generations of winemakers. Since the mid-19th century, they have been working their lands in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia (Barcelona), and today they produce sparkling wines under the prestigious Corpinnat quality label, as well as still wines under the umbrella of the D.O. Penedès. Few wineries have made such significant contributions in recent years to elevate Spanish sparkling wines to the level of the great champagnes.
The sparkling wines of Gramona, crafted by Jaume Gramona, one of the foremost experts on bubbles in our country, achieve remarkable levels of elegance and are characterized by their extended aging periods. These sparkling wines, which garner prestigious international accolades, are made following artisanal processes: natural cork stoppers during aging, riddling racks for clarification, and manual disgorgement.
The Gramona family operates under a biodynamic philosophy across approximately 303 hectares. Of these, 72 hectares are owned by the family, while the rest come from Aliances per la Terra, a viticulturist association founded in 2015 and led by Gramona, which adheres to environmentally respectful practices. In 2014, Gramona obtained the Demeter certification, which guarantees biodynamic farming and winemaking for each wine. A few years later, in 2018, it became the first winery on the Peninsula to receive the BIODYVIN biodynamic certification. The Biodyvin label is a highly demanding certification, specific to the wine sector worldwide, and certifies biodynamic practices in both viticulture and winemaking (winery).
