General Information

Due to its uniqueness and quality, the climat of Les Rugiens-Hauts is one of the most renowned in Pommard, a region in Burgundy known as a prime area for red wine production. Since 1853, the centuries-old winery Bouchard Père & Fils has owned a small plot of just half a hectare in this famous vineyard, from which originates Bouchard Père & Fils Pommard Les Rugiens Premier Cru 2016, the magnificent Pinot Noir that the Club brings to you.

The spectacular cellars of the Château de Beaune, a fortress built in the 15th century, provide the perfect natural environmental conditions for aging the wines of Bouchard Père & Fils. Specifically, Bouchard Père & Fils Pommard Les Rugiens Premier Cru 2016, after vinification—which included the gentle pressing of hand-selected grapes and fermentation in small vats for 15 to 20 days—was aged in its underground stillness in French oak barrels for 12 to 14 months. Over time, this process gave rise to a superb Burgundy with limited production and remarkable aging potential, which pairs exquisitely with game dishes (wild boar, venison) and red meats in sauce.

Tasting notes

On the nose, fruity aromas dominate, combined with animal notes and a touch of oak.

On the palate, spicy notes (pepper) stand out, showing robustness, intensity, and richness.

The winery

The French commune of Beaune has been home, since 1731, to Bouchard Père & Fils, one of the oldest maisons in the Burgundy region. The property boasts a castle built by Louis XI in 1482 and one of the most impressive winegrowing heritages in the area: 130 hectares of vineyards in the legendary Côte d’Or, 12 of which are Grand Cru and another 74 Premier Cru.

Combining tradition with the latest technical advancements, the winery has managed to preserve its essence and the exceptional quality of its wines, making them indispensable references of Burgundy. Diversity is another hallmark of Bouchard Père & Fils, reflected in the different appellations under which it produces its creations, including Chevalier-Montrachet, Montrachet, Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, Meursault Genevriêres, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chassage-Montrachet, and Beaune.
