Bobal de San Juan Rosado 2024 is part of the project to recover this native variety from the Spanish Levante, driven by the centenary Valencian winery Valsangiacomo. Born from old vineyards and fermented in cement tanks, it is a fresh and simple wine, positioned right in the middle between Provencal rosés and those with a deeper and more concentrated profile.

Looking for a rosé that combines freshness and character? Bobal de San Juan Rosado 2024 comes from vineyards in the Aldea de San Juan in Requena, with old vines aged between forty and sixty years, planted as bush vines and grown under dry farming conditions on clay-limestone soils at 700 meters altitude. These conditions provide structure and concentration to the grapes during the manual harvest, and the variety used is one hundred percent bobal, cultivated using traditional practices that respect the expression of the terroir.

The production of Bobal de San Juan Rosado included fermentation in raw cement tanks for ten days and subsequent refinement, resulting in a lively and bright wine with an aromatic profile of tart strawberry, raspberry, and exotic notes that remain crisp thanks to the cement treatment.

Bobal de San Juan Rosado is part of the project to recover the native variety promoted by the centenary Valencian winery Valsangiacomo, located in Utiel‑Requena and historically linked to the cultivation of bobal in the area. The winery's philosophy, focused on restoring and valuing old vines and traditional techniques, is reflected in this wine that seeks honesty and simplicity without sacrificing an elegant expression.

Bobal de San Juan Rosado 2024 is ideal to pair with fresh and light-textured dishes: Mediterranean salads, not-too-intense seafood rice dishes, tapas with preserves, and grilled fish preparations, as well as appetizers with red fruits and fresh cheeses, where its natural acidity and delicate finish enhance every bite.

Tasting notes

Bobal de San Juan Rosado displays a vivid and bright raspberry color with a light layer.

On the nose, it is dominated by fruity aromas of tart strawberry and wild raspberry, along with exotic notes reminiscent of banana and caramelized apple, set against a backdrop of fresh fennel and aromatic herbs.

A refreshing palate of red fruits. With an elegant and fine passage, its sweetness is structured by a notable natural acidity, leading to a prolonged, fresh, long, and persistent finish.

The winery

Winery
Valsangiacomo is a fifth-generation family winery based in Valencia. Its origins date back to 1831, when Vittore Valsangiacomo founded in Switzerland what would become the first winery of the family saga. At the end of the 19th century, his son Cherubino Valsangiacomo started a wine export business in Valencia and Alicante, attracted by the logistical and winemaking potential of the area. Gradually, the business expanded with new facilities in Chiva, Requena, Utiel, Monóvar, Yecla, and the Grao de Valencia.

Today, Valsangiacomo produces and markets wine under the designations of origin Utiel-Requena, Valencia, and Cava, while also being one of the most renowned vermouth producers in our country. Their most cherished project revolves around the native red variety bobal, of which they own 10 hectares of century-old vineyards cultivated following the principles of sustainable viticulture. In the winery, these grapes are vinified in raw concrete tanks, resulting in wines of great varietal purity and a distinctive Mediterranean character.
