Beronia Reserva 2017 is the result of a vintage marked by the effects of the frost of 28th April, which significantly reduced the quantity, but the results were very satisfactory in terms of the quality of the wines. It’s made from a selection of the oldest vineyards run by the winery, using the traditional Rioja blend of Tempranillo (93%), Graciano (6%) and Mazuelo (1%). Aged for 18 months in barrels, followed by a minimum of 18 months in the bottle, it has evolved slowly and harmoniously.
A group of friends who formed a gastronomic society founded Bodegas Beronia in the 1970s, at the height of the golden age of Spanish wine. Since then, Beronia has not stopped growing, thanks in large part to the drive of the González Byass group, owner of the firm since 1982 and responsible for its consolidation worldwide.
Beronia's main asset is a magnificent vineyard that surrounds its facilities in Ollauri: 25 hectares of vines. In addition, the winery runs a further 870 hectares of vineyards within a radius of 10 km, with an average age of 30 years. An abundant winegrowing heritage that enables the winery to obtain quality raw material every vintage. Beronia Reserva 2017 is a compendium of the virtues that have made Rioja wine world famous.
Beronia Reserva 2017 (D.O.Ca. Rioja) is ideal with lean pork with tomato and Iberian cured meats.
Deep black plum. Clean and bright. Attractive nose with ripe red fruit, sweet spices, nuts and chocolate. Mineral and balsamic notes also appear, adding great complexity and freshness. A round, flavoursome wine with balanced acidity. On the palate, its tantalising notes and sweet tannins make the wine very appetising on the palate.
Founded in 1973 by a group of hedonists who formed a gastronomic society, Bodegas Beronia has belonged to the González Byass Group since 1982. A winery with a philosophy based on combining the best of tradition and modernity. Surrounding the facilities, Beronia has its main asset: 25 hectares of its own vineyard, complemented by an additional 870 hectares of controlled vineyards that extend within a 10 km radius, with an average age of 30 years. A magnificent and abundant viticultural heritage that allows it to have quality raw materials every vintage. Significant investment in R&D, respect for the environment, and the continuous renewal of the barrel park are other key characteristics.
Beronia produces different ranges: the Classic Range, consisting of a white, a rosé, and the red wines Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva; the Varietal Range, which includes the only Reserva from Rioja made with mazuelo; the Premium Range, featuring Beronia Selección 198 Barricas, Beronia III a.C., Beronia Viñas Viejas, Crianza Edición Limitada, and the rosé Alegra; and an organic wine. Additionally, Beronia has extended its reach to the D.O. Rueda, where they produce a verdejo white wine and have 65 hectares of their own vineyards.
