With only a handful of vintages on the market, CVNE is already making a name for itself in the Ribera del Duero D.O. with its reds and rosés. Bela Rosado 2023 is fresh, floral and balsamic. It comes from Tempranillo vineyards that the winery owns in Villalba de Duero (Burgos), where the grapes provide the ideal freshness for this wine.

Bela Rosado 2023 is a single-varietal made from Tempranillo grapes grown on the vineyards the winery owns in Villalba de Duero (Burgos). Here the Tempranillo provides the freshness needed to create this rosé. The vines are more than 25 years old, located at an altitude of more than 820 metres, in soils that are poor in organic matter. At the winery the grapes were macerated for 4 hours with their skins to achieve the desired colour. The wine was then bled off.
In 2017 Compañía Vinícola fulfilled their wish to pay tribute to the people who founded the winery back in 1879 by setting up Bodega Bela in one of the most coveted areas of the Denominación de Origen Ribera del Duero. This firm, far from its native Rioja, started out with an impressive 82 hectares of vineyards, mostly of the Tina del País or Tempranillo variety, located between Villalba de Duero and Moradillo de Roa. These two very different areas afford the wine complementary attributes – Moradillo de Roa greater structure and Villalba de Duero more freshness. The firm is reaping the rewards after acquiring these coveted vineyards for more than a decade.
Bela, as the winery in question is called, was the pet name for Sofía, the daughter of Eusebio Real de Asúa, the cofounder of CVNE, and the great-grandmother of its current managers. It’s a cutting-edge winery that spans 6,000 square metres and has a large cellar that can hold 10,000 barrels.
Bela Rosado 2023 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) is ideal with oven-baked red mullet or seabream baked in a salt crust.
In 2017, the Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) fulfilled the desire to honor the founders of the winery from 1879 by launching the Bodega Bela project in one of the most sought-after areas of the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin. This winemaking house, far from its native Rioja, began with an exceptional viticultural heritage of 82 hectares of vineyards, mostly of the tinta del país or tempranillo variety, spread across the Villalba de Duero and Moradillo de Roa regions. Two very distinct areas that contribute complementary attributes to the wines: more structure in Moradillo de Roa and more freshness in Villalba de Duero. A venture that was forged after more than a decade of acquiring these coveted vineyards.
Bela was the affectionate nickname given to Sofía, the daughter of CVNE co-founder Eusebio Real de Asúa, and the great-grandmother of the current leaders of the company. It is a cutting-edge winery with a surface area of 6,000 m² and a large barrel room with a capacity for 10,000 casks.
In 2024, it became one of the highlights of the Spanish wine world when the prestigious publication Wine Spectator selected Bela Crianza 2021 as the only Ribera del Duero wine in its Top 100.
In recent years, Bodega Bela has embarked on its adventure in the neighboring D.O. Rueda, where it is producing verdejo whites that are sure to make waves.
