Making process

Winemaking

Armas de Guerra Rosado Mencía 2025 achieves a clean and precise vinification, designed to preserve the fruit and freshness of the Mencía. At the winery, the grapes underwent a cold maceration for 8 hours, a brief pause that allowed for the extraction of nuances without losing vibrancy. Subsequently, the alcoholic fermentation took place over 10 days in stainless steel tanks, an environment that promotes a clear and fresh style of winemaking.

Vineyard

Description

Armas de Guerra Rosado Mencía 2025 comes from vineyards in the Bierzo region, aged between 45 and 55 years, planted in bush vines on slopes over clay soils with slate, situated at an altitude of between 450 and 600 metres. This environment promotes a slow ripening process, resulting in grapes with great expressiveness, freshness, and a mineral profile. In Bierzo, altitude decisively influences the character of the harvest, within a climate that lends itself to wines of notable vivacity and balance. In this case, production is exclusively with Mencía at 100%.

Age

Made from Mencía grapes sourced from old vineyards.

Climate

In Bierzo, the vineyard is situated on a hillside, between 450 and 600 metres altitude, within the large valley and its side valleys, an environment that significantly influences grape ripening and promotes more floral, concentrated, and mineral styles. This combination of altitude and relief gives rise to a vineyard with character, closely linked to the fresh and precise expression of Mencía.

Viticulture

While many wineries turn to mechanisation to speed up the process, Armas de Guerra Rosado Mencía 2025 comes from old vines, between 45 and 55 years old, trained in bush vines and worked with manual harvest to maximise the care of the grapes. The viticulture is traditional, adapted to sloped clay soils with slate and the altitude of Bierzo, where the Mencía expresses a fresher, floral, and mineral profile. The result is a hand-selected grape, with the balance and quality sought after in these Bierzo vineyards.
