Founded in 1983, Bodegas Príncipe de Viana is the great winemaking powerhouse of Navarra, a Denomination of Origin that has earned respect not only for its rosés but also for its aged reds and some high-quality whites. The range of wines from the Murchante winery (and since 2004 also from Cadreita), led by its 1423 Reserva, is a good example of this: it includes more than a dozen references made with a variety of grapes ranging from Garnacha and Syrah to Tempranillo, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, or Sauvignon Blanc.
The numbers of Príncipe de Viana are impressive, and rightly so. Few wineries are capable of producing ten million bottles a year to be enjoyed in more than twenty countries. This success is rooted in an absolute respect for the land of origin and the grape varieties cultivated there, not to mention the interest in experimenting with varieties that may not have as much tradition in the area.
The brand also owns two other wineries in Rioja (Rioja Vega) and Navarra (Finca Albret).
