Aged White Wine

White wine that is aged in some type of vessel (steel, oak, concrete, ceramic, etc.), normally on its lees. Ageing prolongs the life of white wine and gives it greater structure and sensorial qualities. These wines are capable of maturing and gaining in complexity and sophistication over time. Some Spanish regulatory boards, such as that of the D.O.Ca. Rioja, classify white wines in the same way as red wines (Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva) according to the time they spend in oak.
