Valle de Güímar

In the southeast of the island of Tenerife, the D.O. occupies an extension of the Orotava Valley, forming an open valley facing the sea.

Climate
Important influence of the trade winds that temper the climate and reduce humidity. However, the significant altitude differences in such a small area create various microclimates with marked thermal differences between day and night, which delays the harvest until practically the month of November.
Soil
The soils are volcanic, dark, fertile, and well-drained, and the vineyard is cultivated in a harsh terrain at altitudes ranging from 100 to 1,600 meters above sea level. Closer to the coast, the soils are sandy, and in some other areas, clay soils can be found.
