The D.O. extends through the southeast of the province of Zamora, on both banks of the Duero River, which crosses the region. It comprises 46 municipalities in Zamora and 10 in Salamanca.
Climate
Extreme continental climate, very dry, with very hot summers and very cold winters. Low rainfall, with an annual average of around 400 mm. The average altitude is 750 m above sea level.
Soil
The Land of Wine of Zamora is crossed by numerous watercourses, which makes the soils of the region predominantly alluvial, low in organic matter, permeable, and with variable water retention capacity depending on the altitude. In the plains, sandy soils are common, gravel appears on the slopes, and the higher areas are covered with pebbles.
