The Z.G.P. Brda is a mountainous microregion in the west of Slovenia. It is located on the right bank of the Isonzo River, north of the Italian city of Gorizia.
Climate
Continental with Mediterranean influence.
Soil
The soil was formed from an oceanic sedimentary mass composed of layers of flysch, sandstone, and limestone. The erosion caused by surface water led to the formation of hills. Due to the slopes, the soil is very difficult to cultivate and has a low supply of humus and mineral substances, potassium, phosphorus, and other nutrients.
