Muriel Wines is one of the most prominent wine groups in Spain. The origin of the group lies in Bodegas Muriel, a winery located in Elciego, within the D.O.Ca. Rioja, founded by José Murúa in 1926. His son, Julián Murúa, took the reins of the family winery in 1986, creating the foundation of the Muriel Wines group.

Currently, the Muriel Wines group is led by Julián Murúa (in the photo) and comprises seven wineries, five of them in the D.O.Ca. Rioja: Bodegas Muriel, Bodegas Ollauri-Conde de los Andes, Bodegas Eguía, Bodegas Luis Alegre, and Marqués de Elciego. Additionally, Muriel Wines is behind the Real Compañía de Vinos project and is present in the D.O. Rías Baixas, where it produces the white wine Pazo Cilleiro.
