Description of their own wines

Our wines are divided into two families.

Sensatos Wines: Judicious, prudent, and mature, that’s how our wines are. Three young wines (Red, White, and Rosé), a Crianza, a Reserva, and a new Gran Reserva, all of them crafted according to the tradition that defines the identity, location, and character of the vineyard in Samaniego.

Singulares Wines: Unique, different, and extraordinary. These are characteristics that define the personality of specific plots that showcase the essence of each vintage. Lore, Selección, Laderas, and Gloria de Ostatu, wines with their own identity that express the uniqueness of the terroirs from which they come.

Professional career

As a member of the Sáenz de Samaniego family, Íñigo has been a witness since childhood to the craftsmanship of his father and brothers. His professional journey began in 1999 as part of the technical team of the winery, but it was in 2002 when he took the reins and became the head winemaker of Ostatu.

During his early years as a winemaker, he worked under the guidance of the renowned Bordeaux winemaker Hubert de Boüard (Château Angélus, Saint-Émilion). Their collaboration over 8 years helped the young winemaker shape the style that would dominate Ostatu's wines: wines that are a true reflection of the “terroir” from which they originate.
