Our wines are divided into two families.
Vinos Sensatos: Judicious, prudent, and mature, this is how our wines are. Three young wines (Tinto, Blanco, and Rosado), a Crianza, a Reserva, and a new Gran Reserva, all crafted according to the tradition that defines the identity, location, and character of the vineyard in Samaniego.
Vinos Singulares: Unique, different, and extraordinary. These are the characteristics that define the personality of specific plots, showcasing the essence of each vintage. Lore, Selección, Laderas, and Gloria de Ostatu, wines with their own identity that express the uniqueness of the terroirs from which they originate.
Bodegas Ostatu was established in the late 1960s by Doroteo and Mª Asunción. Starting in the year 2000, four of their six children (Gonzalo, Ernesto, Mariasun, and Iñigo) began taking over the management of the winery.
Íñigo Sáenz (second from the left) is also the winemaker of the winery. His professional journey began in 1999 as part of the winery's technical team, but it was in 2002 when he took the reins and became the head winemaker of Ostatu. During his early years as a winemaker, he worked under the guidance of the prestigious Bordeaux winemaker Hubert de Boüard (Château Angélus, Saint-Émilion). Their collaboration over 8 years helped the young winemaker shape the style that would dominate Ostatu's wines: wines that are a true reflection of the “terroir” from which they originate.
