The sparkling wines of Recaredo stand out for their subtle elegance. These are wines characterized by an exceptional gastronomic profile, marked by freshness and an essentially Mediterranean style. They are completely Brut Nature cavas (without added sugar) with long aging, rich in nuances and expressiveness.
With a silky character, Recaredo wines offer a gentle entry that grows in breadth as they pass through the palate. A fine and elegant mousse provides a vinous profile, especially in cavas with prolonged aging. The bubbles burst softly with tactile and flavorful micro-explosions.
Professional career
In the year 1924, Josep Mata Capellades began his journey in the world of cava. It was the founder himself who, with pick and shovel, started building the cellars in his home, located in the historic center of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. Recaredo, as his father Recaredo Mata Figueres – born in 1878 – was known, would give his name to the brand. Josep Mata Capellades forged a unique identity, being one of the pioneers in the production of Brut Nature, working with oak barrels, and crafting long-aged cavas.
With the collaboration of his sons Josep and Antoni Mata Casanovas, the founder launched significant projects such as the production of Recaredo’s Reserva Particular, with the idea of conveying the subtle complexity that a long-aged cava can achieve, without compromising freshness and the most genuine expression of time. Josep and Antoni Mata laid the solid foundations of the brand and consolidated Recaredo’s reputation as synonymous with rigor, quality, and passion for cava. At the same time, they began a path towards specialization in truly ‘terroir’ cavas, with the vineyard as the essential element and the desire to express the landscape of the Alt Penedès through cava.
From 1990 onwards, the third generation began to join the cellars in an enriching process where some contributed experience and expertise, while others brought new ideas and the drive to progress and learn.
