Unlike the countries of the Old World, Australian wines do not always emphasize the region from which they originate but rather use the label "Australia" to sell wines outside the nation. Therefore, it is not surprising that in Australia, a wine can be labeled with the geographical indication South Australia. A similar example on a national level can be found with the indications Vinos de la Tierra, since, for instance, V.T. Castilla covers the same geographical area as other more specific denominations of origin that coexist in the Castilla-La Mancha region.
