Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte

Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte

Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte is the youngest of the great Champagne houses and brings together more than 5,000 winegrowers spread throughout the appellation. Its story begins with the meeting of two extraordinary men: Henri Macquart, a pioneer of the cooperative movement in Champagne, and Nicolas Feuillatte, a bold entrepreneur.

It all started in the early 1970s. After the exceptional 1970 harvest, the Champagne region faced significant storage problems due to the surplus of grapes produced. Henri Macquart understood that the time had come to seek joint solutions, and he brought together numerous cooperatives and producers in the region to create a structure capable of ensuring the marketing of their grapes. The Champagne Wine Center (Centre Vinicole de la Champagne) was born in 1972 from this vision, located in the heart of the prestigious Côte des Blancs.

Meanwhile, another figure was beginning to write his own story in the world of Champagne: Nicolas Feuillatte, born in Paris in 1926 into a family of prominent wine and spirits importers. After World War II, he decided to move to the United States, where he developed a successful business career. At the age of forty, he acquired vineyards in Champagne and began to take an interest in the production of sparkling wines. In 1976, he decided to create a Champagne initially intended for his circle of friends in the United States. What began as a personal project quickly became a commercial success. Its elegant style captivated a select clientele that included such prominent figures as the Kennedys and Aristotle Onassis.

The brand's growing prestige caught the attention of Centre Vinicole. In 1986, the meeting that would shape the future of both organizations took place: Nicolas Feuillatte sold his brand to the Champagne Wine Center, giving rise to Centre Vinicole – Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte. The union between Feuillatte's commercial and cosmopolitan vision and the cooperative strength fostered by Henri Macquart allowed for the creation of a unique structure in Champagne. This gave rise to what is now considered the leading Champagne brand produced by winegrowers and one of the most important benchmarks in the entire appellation.

Since then, the company's growth has been enormous, reaching ten million bottles sold in 2014. The Maison's evolution took another step forward in 2017 with the inauguration of its modern facilities and visitor center.
