General Information
With Viñas del Vero Chardonnay 2023, the renowned winery from Barbastro, part of the powerful Grupo González Byass, once again demonstrates the perfect adaptation of this French variety to Somontano.
In keeping with its pioneering spirit, Viñas del Vero planted, almost a quarter of a century ago, the Chardonnay clones used to produce this white wine on a hill, at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level, in shallow, loamy soils composed of white gypsum, aiming to enhance its delicate and subtle varietal aroma. After harvesting the best clusters, the winery work was carried out slowly, allowing the must to macerate with the skins to give it greater richness of aromas and flavors. The great expressiveness of Viñas del Vero Chardonnay 2023 makes it a wine from the D.O. Somontano ideal for enjoying with all kinds of starters, salads, light creams, fish, and quiches.

To the eye, Viñas del Vero Chardonnay presents a medium-intensity yellow color, with bright greenish reflections.

The winery
Established in Barbastro in 1986, Viñas del Vero is the leading winery in Somontano in terms of production volume and one of those that has most promoted the name of this Denomination of Origin around the world. Currently, the winery belongs to the international group González-Byass. Viñas del Vero manages one of the largest vineyards in the country, with 500 hectares owned and an additional 515 hectares under control, producing around six million bottles a year, which are distributed to about fifty countries.
The first wines from Viñas del Vero were produced in an experimental winery in Salas Bajas and were launched on the market in the spring of 1990. Earlier, in 1987, the company had acquired the San Marcos estate for the construction of a new winery, which was inaugurated in July 1993. Today, Viñas del Vero is considered one of the most innovative brands in this country thanks to the quality and diversity of its wines.
