Description
Viña Sastre Crianza 2022 is a crianza red wine designed for those seeking a wine with character to complement hearty meat dishes or to enjoy on its own, with the clear personality of La Horra, in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It originates from plots situated at more than 800 metres above sea level — Las Navas, Fuentenarro, Valdelayegua, Carrasantamaría, Carranguix and Las Tenadas — where the vines, over 60 years old, are cultivated traditionally on poor soils under an extreme climate that promotes slow ripening and very concentrated expression. In this environment, the Tempranillo shows all its intensity and maturity, resulting in a wine of great complexity, power and authenticity.

View
Viña Sastre Crianza 2022 displays a beautiful cherry-red colour with high-intensity garnet edges, with a deep, vivid, and bright layer.
Nose
The nose is very powerful and complex. The ripeness of Tempranillo dominates from the start. Notes of ripe black fruit and cacao appear. This is followed by toasted wood aromas. The overall profile is completed with spicy notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and black pepper, along with a touch of vanilla.
Mouth
Viña Sastre Crianza 2022 is particularly enjoyed at the table, accompanying characterful meats or savoured on its own, where its palate reveals the full weight of a Ribera del Duero Crianza red with a defined personality.
On the palate, it is smooth and luscious, with a very fruity entrance that highlights black fruit and well-integrated fined toasted notes, while aromatic woods add depth and complexity without sacrificing freshness. It is a wine with a broad, harmonious mouthfeel. Long-lasting.
Its finish is very long and complex, leaving a tasty and persistent sensation that prolongs the memory of ripe fruit and ageing nuances.
Hermanos Sastre is one of the most outstanding wineries in the country. A family-run business that carries the heritage of the first winemakers of Ribera del Duero. Its origins date back three generations, when Severiano Sastre invested in the vineyards of what is now one of the most noble areas of the D.O. Ribera del Duero: La Horra (Burgos).
Ribera del Duero began building an exceptional viticultural heritage, and in 1957 participated in the creation of the Cooperativa Virgen de la Asunción. His dream of creating his own winery was realized by his son Rafael. Thus, in 1992, Bodegas Hermanos Sastre was born, already gaining the support of Rafael's sons, Pedro and Jesús.
Today, Hermanos Sastre (better known as Viña Sastre) stands as a model winery on the international scene, producing wines ranked among the best in the country, such as Pesus, Regina Vides, or Pago de Santa Cruz. Its vineyard, spanning nearly 50 hectares, has an average age of half a century; and in the vineyards surrounding the winery - in the style of Bordeaux 'châteaux' - they practice organic and biodynamic farming, in line with a philosophy of utmost respect for the 'terroir'.
