Viña Salceda is based in an outstanding part of the prestigious municipality of Elciego, whose vineyards are protected by the Cantabrian and Demanda mountains. The vines are influenced by the humid environment of the Atlantic in the north and the dry, extreme climate of the plateau. The vineyards are located at an altitude of between 410 and 450 metres beside the river Ebro and the confluence of the river Mayer, in calcareous-clay soils.
This privileged area is home to Finca La Tejera, the most important plot in Viña Salceda, adjacent to the winery. The gobelet-trained vines, predominantly Tempranillo and with an average age of 35 years, span nearly 10 hectares. The soil of this vineyard is stony and alluvial owing to its closeness to the river Ebro, but with a clay subsoil that retains sufficient water for the summer season.
All these attributes make Finca La Tejera an exceptional vineyard from which the grapes that went into the exclusive red Viña Salceda Selección Especial La Tejera Reserva 2018 were selected.
Gorgeous cherry red with a garnet-red rim.
Elegant finesse and intensity in the nose, with prominent aromas of red fruit (strawberries and raspberries) together with pleasant hints of spice (vanilla) and patisserie.
Flavoursome, moreish and mouth-coating with excellent balance. Elegant tannins and fine wood, with a long, lingering finish.
