Viña Mayor Crianza 2022 is the pledge of Bodegas y Viñedos Viña Mayor to the Tempranillo grape. Each vintage sets the trend with its consistency and has become one of the most anticipated Crianzas in the D.O. It is a bet on the region's flagship variety, a precise, contemporary Tempranillo that does not lose the identity of the area. It has been perfected by a 14-month ageing in French and American oak barriques, aiming for balance and definition in a wine that stands out for its fantastic quality-price ratio.
The grapes come from vineyards aged between 20 and 50 years, situated on a notable variety of soils: sandy, clayey, calcareous and gravelly. Manual harvest and fermentation at controlled temperature complete a work aimed at respecting the expression of the vineyard and giving the wine a serious yet easy-to-understand profile from the very first glass.
Behind it is Viña Mayor, a brand highly regarded in Ribera del Duero, with Álvaro Izquierdo at the helm of the production of this vintage. Viña Mayor Crianza 2022 also arrives supported by excellent critics' scores: 94 points in the Guía Gourmets, 90 points in Guía Peñín and a Bacchus Silver medal, an endorsement that confirms its place among the most consistent Crianzas in the region.

The upward trajectory of Bodegas y Viñedos Viña Mayor, founded in Quintanilla de Onésimo in 1986, has run parallel to the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin, established four years earlier. The success of its two brands, Viña Mayor and Secreto, has only enhanced the reputation of a winery known worldwide and admired for the excellent value for money of its wines.
On the other hand, Viña Mayor is a company highly committed to caring for the planet: it works with plans for energy and water efficiency, resource consumption, and waste generation, which has led it to achieve the Wineries for Climate Protection certification, the only certification in Spain that endorses wineries working sustainably.
In February 2024, the Portuguese company Sogrape acquired the winery from the Entrecanales Domecq e Hijos group.
