General Information

Vía Cénit 2021 is one of the enological gems of bodega Viñas del Cénit, located in the little-explored yet fascinating denomination Tierra del Vino de Zamora. This wine is a pure and powerful expression of the most ancestral tempranillo, made from century-old bush-trained vineyards. These vines, deeply rooted in poor sandy and clay soils, offer very low yields but exceptional quality, resulting in remarkable concentration and complexity in every bottle.

Vía Cénit has garnered critical acclaim in its previous vintages, receiving a score of 92 points from Wine Enthusiast and the Guía Peñín. So far, the 2021 vintage of Vía Cénit, not yet widely reviewed by critics, is characterized by an excellent balance between ripeness and freshness, thanks to a growing season marked by moderate temperatures and well-distributed rainfall. The harvest was carried out manually, with rigorous selection in both the vineyard and the winery, ensuring that only the best grapes entered the winemaking process. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts, preserving the terroir's identity to the fullest. Subsequently, the wine underwent 14 months of aging in French oak barrels, approximately 60% new, which added structure and complexity without masking the fruit.

Vía Cénit 2021 pairs wonderfully with roasted lamb or arroz a la zamorana made with pork products.

Tasting notes

Cherry red color with good depth.
On the nose, it is complex; it boasts elegance and very good intensity, displaying aromas of red fruit, preserves, notes of cocoa, licorice, and a balsamic background.
Broad on the palate, flavorful, enveloping, with very good balance and acidity, a creamy texture, and a long, persistent finish.

The winery

Part of the Terraselecta group, which brings together eight wineries at the national level, Viñas del Cenit was founded in 2006 to work with some of the most unique old tempranillo vineyards in the D.O. Tierra del Vino de Zamora. Its modern winery, equipped with 32 open stainless steel tanks with temperature control, bathtub-style, allows for extremely meticulous and individualized winemaking for each vineyard they cultivate.
