General Information

We present another of the interesting initiatives developed by Carlos Moro, the prestigious Castilian-Leonese entrepreneur who steers the helm of the Matarromera Group and has made the tempranillo variety his flagship.

Another of his projects along the great flow of the Iberian Peninsula, the Duero -in this case in Cigales-, which reconquers a designation of origin once characterized by the production of rosés and now demonstrates that this land also produces world-class red wines.

Now enjoy a benchmark wine in Cigales and within the Matarromera Group itself, Valdelosfrailes Prestigio 2012. A single-varietal tempranillo, complex and elegant, filled with a broad palette of aromas and flavors, that will delight your finest gatherings. The best hallmark of Carlos Moro in Cigales.

Tasting notes

In appearance, it shows a beautiful ripe cherry red color with edges of the same tone, very well covered with a dense layer.

Intense on the nose, with aromas of wild fruits (blackberry and raspberry) intermingled with balsamic notes (licorice) and spicy hints (oregano and pepper); all in perfect harmony over a pleasant lactic background.

On the palate, it is broad, elegant, meaty, with an enveloping texture and acidity that brings freshness. Its finish is persistent, with intoxicating hints of vanilla, a result of its aging in oak barrels.

The winery

Bodega Valdelosfrailes
Sponsored by the family winemaking tradition in the D.O. Cigales, Carlos Moro (Bodegas Familiares Matarromera) founded Bodega Valdelosfrailes in the Valladolid municipality of Cubillas de Santa Marta. From its inception, the winery broke with the winemaking tradition of classic claretes to focus on high-quality wines, vinified primarily with the main variety of the region, the tempranillo, which thrives so well along the Duero river. Bodega Valdelosfrailes owns 60 hectares of its own vineyards and controls an additional 70 hectares.
