General Information

Throughout its history, this best-selling rosé has earned prestigious awards, such as the gold medal at the Mondial du Rosé, the gold medal at the Premios Baco and, above all, its inclusion in the renowned Top 100 of Wine Spectator. Valdelosfrailes Clarete 2025 is the new vintage. It comes from Tempranillo vineyards cultivated by the winery in Cubillas de Santa Marta and Quintanilla de Trigueros.

The origin of Valdelosfrailes Clarete 2025 lies in the Las Costanas and Aldor plots, which surround the winery and are home to vines over 30 years old, producing Tempranillo that conveys the influence of silica-based soils and provides a subtle mineral character. It also includes grapes of the same variety from the Valdeví plot, with deep clay-loam soils that bring freshness. Carefully controlled fermentation enhances the fruit expression and reveals delicate floral nuances.

Carlos Moro, founder of one of the country’s most renowned wine groups (Bodegas Familiares Matarromera), always dreamed of establishing a presence in the land linked to his family tradition: Cigales. After consolidating his success in Ribera del Duero with Matarromera, he inaugurated the Valdelosfrailes winery in 1999 in Cubillas de Santa Marta (Valladolid). Its facilities are surrounded by vineyards where Tempranillo, also known as Tinto Fino, predominates.

Valdelosfrailes Clarete 2025 is an excellent companion to chicken in pepitoria sauce or rice with rabbit and snails.

Tasting notes

Appearance: Bright dark pink colour, very luminous.

Nose: Explosive aroma of forest fruits (currant, blackberry) resulting from low-temperature fermentation, accompanied by delicate floral notes of lavender, subtle aniseed, and a fine mineral undertone.

Palate: Notable balance between fresh acidity and aromatic intensity, with memories of fine strawberry, blackberry, and hints of stone fruit, leading to a lively and elegant finish.

The winery

Bodega Valdelosfrailes
Sponsored by the family winemaking tradition in the D.O. Cigales, Carlos Moro (Bodegas Familiares Matarromera) founded Bodega Valdelosfrailes in the Valladolid municipality of Cubillas de Santa Marta. From its inception, the winery broke with the winemaking tradition of classic claretes to focus on high-quality wines, vinified primarily with the main variety of the region, the tempranillo, which thrives so well along the Duero river. Bodega Valdelosfrailes owns 60 hectares of its own vineyards and controls an additional 70 hectares.
