When it comes to rosés, the D.O. Cigales has a lot to say; in fact, over the past few years it's won the highest awards in all the international competitions. This type of wine is linked to the history of this region, where it’s traditionally been called clarete. Although today there are different styles of rosé in the region, Carlos Moro (Bodegas Familiares Matarromera) has opted to reinterpret the classic clarete. Here’s introducing Valdelosfrailes Clarete 2024. Uncork it to discover a fresh, lively and balanced wine that convinces everyone.

This rosé has been awarded important prizes such as gold medals at the Mondial du Rosé and Premios Baco and was included among Wine Spectator’s famous Top 100 wines. We're offering you the new vintage: Valdelosfrailes Clarete 2024. The grapes that went into making this wine were grown on the firm's own vineyards located in Cubillas de Santa Marta and Quintanilla de Trigueros, specifically the Las Costanas and Aldor plots surrounding the winery, whose vines are more than 30 years old and produce Tempranillo grapes that reflect the siliceous soils and lend the wines a minerally touch. It’s also made from Tempranillo grapes from the Valdeví plot, whose deep clay loam soil provides freshness. Its controlled fermentation brings out the intensity of the fruit with floral hints.
Carlos Moro, the mastermind behind one of the most prestigious winemaking groups in the country (Bodegas Familiares Matarromera) always wanted to own a winery in the region where his family had a winemaking tradition: Cigales. That’s why, after achieving success in Ribera del Duero with his iconic Matarromera winery, in 1999 he established Valdelosfrailes in Cubillas de Santa Marta. Its facilities are surrounded by vineyards, where the Tempranillo or Tinto Fino variety is predominant.
Valdelosfrailes Clarete 2024 (D.O. Cigales) is ideal with clams a la marinera or baked hake.
Bright red in colour.
Very intense nose with aromas of fresh forest fruit (blackcurrants and blackberries) from fermentation at a very low temperature. Floral touches of lavender and subtle notes of aniseed also appear, combined with fine mineral notes from the complex blend of grapes from different places.
Excellent balance between the fresh acidity sensations and the aromatic phase, lending the wine complexity, with elegant notes of subtle strawberry, blackberry and stone fruits, and a lively, elegant finish.
