This is the third vintage Ébano Viñedos y Bodegas has made for Vinoselección of this young wine that’s been barrel aged for 6 months. And we’re convinced it will be as successful as its predecessors. Ébano 2020 comes from one of the most promising Ribera del Duero wineries and is packed with the character of the Tempranillo grapes grown in this region.
After more than a decade of experience with Galician vineyards at the helm of Adegas Valmiñor, Carlos Gómez fulfilled his dream of establishing a great winery in Ribera del Duero, Ébano. Ébano 2020, made wholly from Tempranillo grapes, is a young wine with a powerful varietal expression of fruit. A 6-month stint in French oak has brought out the character of Ribera del Duero and made it mouth-coating, unctuous and very long on the palate.
Ébano Viñedos y Bodegas was founded in 2004 in Castrillo de Duero (Burgos) and owns 43 hectares of vineyards with an average age of 20 years in the municipalities of Gumiel de Mercado and Quintana del Pidio, a privileged location. Half of the vineyard is gobelet-trained and the other half trellised, and yields do not exceed 2,500 and 4,000 kg/ha., respectively. Careful attention to the vineyard is one of its hallmarks. The grapes are always harvested by hand and the winery is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and more than 400 French oak barrels.
