Founded in the 70s, the Uggiano winery located in the hills of San Vincenzo, near Florence, combines Tuscan tradition with modern winemaking techniques, focussing on the production of high-quality wines in the Chianti Classico region. Clay and limestone soils provide minerality and structure to its wines. We selected Uggiano Chianti Classico 2021, a red wine with a lot of personality that presents aromas of red fruits and an excellent, fruity palate.

General Information

Italy is the country with the largest number of indigenous grape varieties. We focus on the heart of Tuscany, where the Chianti region is located, between Florence and Siena. The prestigious Chianti Classico is produced here, from the local Sangiovese grape. Uggiano Chianti Classico 2021 is a magnificent exponent of the area. It combines 90% sangiovese with 10% canaiolo grape.

After crushing, the grapes fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts at a temperature of 26-28°C, pumping over twice a day to extract colouring substances and tannins from the skins. It is aged for 6-8 months in large 30/60 hl oak barrels. It was then stored in stainless steel tanks until bottling. And after bottling, it remained for 6 more months refining in the winery.

The result is an intense ruby red colour. The fragrant bouquet is dominated by notes of violet, cherry and blackberry. On the palate the wine is harmonious, with soft tannins and moderate acidity.

Uggiano is a firm founded in the early 70s in the Castle of Montespertoli. In 1976, the wineries were expanded and moved to San Vincenzo a Torri, near the valley of the Pesa River, the cradle of the Tuscan tradition. Today the three historical partners: Giacomo, Fabio and Daniele, have taken over the reins from winemaker Giuseppe Losapio, historical founder of Uggiano, putting all their efforts into the production of high quality wines. Its vineyards are located 250-300 meters above sea level, along the slopes that connect Montespertoli with Montelupo Fiorentino and San Casciano Val di Pesa. With them they produce wines that have a good bouquet of international awards.

Uggiano Chianti Classico 2021 (Chianti Classico D.O.C.G.) is ideal for pairing with mushroom and foie risotto or a roast beef round.
