Tres Cuestas 2023 is the essence and soul of Cigales. A single-vineyard red wine produced exclusively with Tinta del País, originating in Mucientes, from an old vineyard and aged in French oak, yielding a wine with character, savoury, elegant and with personality. Let yourself be seduced by its authenticity.

Tres Cuestas 2023 is a red from the D.O. Cigales that is born for those seeking wines with soul: character of its own, deep roots and a story that begins in the vineyard. Made 100% with Tinta del País, it clearly expresses the spirit of the estate of Tres Cuestas, in Mucientes: a place where authenticity rules and every sip speaks of origin, identity and terroir.

The grapes come from a single plot of 40 years, located at 780 metres above sea level on clay soils in reddish-brown tones. That combination – old vines, altitude and clay – provides freshness, structure and a personality that is instantly recognisable. After a 14-day maceration, a malolactic fermentation in tank, and a maturation in French oak, the wine rests in bottle for at least 12 months, refining its expression. Every step adds. And you can feel it.

At Traslanzas Bodegas y Viñedos, the oenologist María Pinacho works from Cigales with a focus on origin and on the plot vineyard. In an area famed for its rosés, the winery asserts the value of its reds: carefully crafted, balanced, expressive and elegant wines, without losing approachability or honesty.

Pairing

Tres Cuestas 2023 works better at the table when there is flavour and texture, but also balance. It goes very well with roasted pork loin, suckling lamb, braised cheeks or a grilled beef fillet; it also pairs with sautéed mushrooms, roasted vegetables and cured cheeses. Its Tempranillo character, with ripe fruit, spiced notes and fine tannin, helps elevate tasty dishes without overpowering them, leaving a long and elegant finish in every bite.

Making process

Winemaking

Tres Cuestas 2023 is produced in the winery to shape a red wine with character, designed for those seeking a precise expression of the Tinta del País (Tempranillo). Vinification follows a traditional approach, with a 14-day maceration that promotes extraction of colour and structure. Thereafter, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in tank.

Aging

Are you looking for a red wine that gains structure and finesse before reaching the glass? Tres Cuestas 2023 is aged in French oak barrels; the specification sheet notes ageing of six months and also mentions ageing in first- and second-use barrels for nine months. Afterwards, it remains in bottle for at least 12 months before its release onto the market.

Vineyard

Description

On the table, Tres Cuestas 2023 presents itself as a single-plot red wine crafted for those seeking a wine with character, made exclusively from grapes sourced from the Tres Cuestas estate, in Mucientes, at 780 metres above sea level. The vineyard is 40 years old and grows on clay soils formed by fine brownish-red grains that retain water and impart structure and personality to the wine.

Tempranillo expresses its full identity here, accompanied by a traditional winemaking with a 14-day maceration, ageing in French oak barrels and a prolonged bottle-ageing. The result is an intense and elegant red, with a pronounced imprint of its vineyard of origin.

Age

Made from Tinta del País (Tempranillo) sourced from 40-year-old vines.

Viticulture

Tres Cuestas 2023 comes from a vineyard plot located in the Tres Cuestas pago, in Mucientes, with 40-year-old vines at an altitude of 780 metres; vines rooted in a clay soil with fine reddish-brown grains that promote water retention and contribute structure and character to the wine.
