Les Terrasses 2022 embodies the most historic and authentic Priorat with an exceptional quality-price ratio. A wine that represents a return to the origins of a denomination that, in the last 20 years, has experienced a meteoric rise.
Balanced and expressive, Les Terrasses 2022 is a coupage of garnacha, cariñena, and other grapes, sourced from the municipalities of Gratallops, La Vilella Baixa, Bellmunt, El Lloar, El Molar, Porrera, Scala Dei, Torroja, and Poboleda. Its 12-month aging in French oak barrels endowed it with greater richness and breadth, making it a red wine with great aging potential, ideal to accompany all types of meats, from roasts to stews, including Argentine barbecues.
At just 24 years old, in 1989, Ãlvaro Palacios arrived in the lands of Priorat, from his native Alfaro, to embark on the exciting adventure of producing great estate wines in a region with a rugged landscape that was then one of the most promising on the national scene. Palacios' goal was not only met but exceeded with the creation of authentic cult wines like the legendary L’Ermita, rated with 100 Parker points.
Tasting notes
In appearance, it shows an intense cherry red color with a violet rim.
On the nose, balsamic and spicy notes (ranging from vanilla to tobacco) and ripe fruit predominate.
Tasty and very well-structured on the palate, where fresh fruit and its slight acidity stand out. Silky tannins.
The winery
Leader of the enological avant-garde in the nineties, Álvaro Palacios is the most famous of the daring winemakers who led Priorat to the pinnacle of the national wine scene.
Born in Alfaro (La Rioja) into a well-known local winemaking family – the Palacios Remondo – Álvaro Palacios decided in 1989 – at just 24 years old – to head to Priorat to prove that he could produce top-tier estate wines in the most promising wine region of the time. Not only did he succeed, but he also created a cult wine – L´Ermita – which introduced the world to llicorella, Priorat Garnacha, and the old vineyards surrounding Scala Dei.
