Tarsus Crianza 2021 comes from one of the few castles that exist in Ribera del Duero Burgalesa. Fresh and fruity, it belongs to a vintage graded as Excellent and perfectly represents that second wave of ‘riberas’ that emerged in the nineties to compete with modern-style Rioja Crianza wines.

Are you looking for a red wine that offers solidity from the very first sip? Tarsus Crianza 2021 does so with the confidence of a well-structured wine, straightforward and highly enjoyable. In the D.O. Ribera del Duero, this single-varietal Tempranillo spends 12 months ageing in French and American oak barrels, followed by 12 months resting in the bottle, to achieve balance and a very harmonious overall impression.

The 2021 vintage, rated as Excellent, reinforces its fresh and fruity profile, with that touch of energy that fits so well in Ribera. Tarsus Crianza 2021 is produced by Teresa Rodríguez, with the support of Pernod Ricard Bodegas, conveying a clear idea: to offer a wine with character, polished and with a good presence, without losing approachability.

Bodegas Tarsus operates in a privileged area of the Burgos Ribera, where the vineyard and the winery are almost naturally connected. This origin is reflected in a precise style, designed for those who value wines with personality, but also with a friendly attitude and easy to enjoy in good company.

Consumption features

Pairing

Tarsus Crianza 2021 enhances dishes with deep flavours and leaves a broad and persistent sensation. Its fruity character and spicy undertones pair very well with roast lamb, lamb chops, grilled ribeye steak, or beef fillet. It also complements game stews, veal cheeks, and cured cheeses with ease, where its freshness and structure find a good balance.

Service

Tarsus Crianza 2021 presents a firm and juicy presence in the glass. It is advisable to let it breathe for a few minutes to bring out its aromas of forest fruits, blue flowers, and a highly expressive mineral note. Its broad and flavoursome palate becomes more defined with a short resting period. Decanting is not necessary.

Description

Tarsus Crianza 2021 is produced in one of the few châteaux in the Ribera del Duero Burgalesa and clearly reflects the philosophy of that second wave of wineries emerging in the nineties to offer a more modern and fresh expression of the region. Made exclusively from Tempranillo, it comes from a vintage rated as Excellent in the D.O. Ribera del Duero and is aged in a way that enhances its fruity and lively character, with the distinctive identity of this Castilian origin.

Tasting notes

View

The Tarsus Crianza 2021 boasts a beautiful, intense ruby red with a slightly amethyst rim, with a good coverage and depth.

Nose

The nose is extraordinarily complex in its nuances: aromas of forest fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant) are appreciated alongside notes of blue flowers, hints of orange peel, and mineral echoes.

Mouth

The palate is broad, tasty, and compact with a firm structure, well-balanced acidity, and a magnificent fruit profile. It has a persistent finish with excellent spicy and bergamot notes.

The winery

Bodegas Tarsus

Next to a small pine grove, surrounded by vineyards, the luminosity and balance of this estate with a clearly French imprint is revealed to the world. Tarsus strives to make the most of the unique characteristics of its vineyard, located in the heart of Ribera del Duero. Thus, the harvesting and winemaking processes are carried out by plots, under the guidance of the winemaker, who becomes the author and responsible for creating wines with deep aromas, high concentration, and aging potential. Tarsus and Quinta de Tarsus bear witness to this. Domecq is one of the giants in wine production and exportation in Spain. Leaders in Rioja, with wineries such as Campo Viejo and Ysios and wines like Azpilicueta, Alcorta, or Siglo, recognized in 60 countries. The group owns eleven wineries across eight denominations of origin (Rioja, Navarra, Rías Baixas, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, La Mancha, Valdepeñas, and Jumilla). Eleven wineries with their own identity where quality is the utmost concern, as reflected in the significant investments the group makes in vineyards, winemakers, barrels... A whole array of resources aimed at protecting the identity of each one, with the goal of producing wines with character. Since 2001, Domecq has been part of the Pernod Ricard group, the world's second-largest company in spirits and wines, which has contributed to improving the positioning of its brands in international markets. Domecq caters to today's consumer tastes through its "key brands," such as Tarsus, in Ribera del Duero. A very special wine, made from Tempranillo grapes from the Anguix vineyard surrounding the winery.
