General Information

Giorgio Rivetti, winemaker at La Spinetta, a family-owned winery and a benchmark in Italy's Piedmont region, assures that “the only secret behind a great wine is exceptional grapes,” and this is precisely the foundation of La Spinetta Langhe Nebbiolo 2021, one of its most iconic reds.

Considered one of Italy’s noblest varieties, the nebbiolo cultivated by the winery, following the principles of almost biodynamic agriculture, exhibits a pronounced aromatic intensity, complexity, and excellent aging potential. La Spinetta Langhe Nebbiolo 2021 enhanced all these varietal virtues through a meticulous winemaking process that included 12 months of aging in French oak barrels, 2 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling, and another 4 months in the bottle to achieve perfect balance. The result is a red wine from Piedmont that showcases a unique elegance ready to captivate all kinds of palates.

Tasting notes

La Spinetta Langhe Nebbiolo displays a pale red color characteristic of the varietal.

On the nose, it stands out with aromas of rose petals and black fruits (plums and blackberries).

Juicy, opulent, and elegant on the palate, it shows good body and well-present tannins.

The winery

Winery
La Spinetta is one of the most iconic wineries in the Italian Piedmont region. Its history began in 1977 when Giuseppe and Lidia Rivetti founded their original facilities in the town of Castagnole delle Lanze. Today, the second generation of the family, embodied by Giorgio Rivetti, is at the helm of the winery. Under his leadership, they uphold their philosophy of producing great wines, rooted in meticulous work both in the vineyard and in the winery.

The vineyard area owned by La Spinetta spans 165 hectares, 100 in Piedmont and 65 in Tuscany, with 75% of it being cultivated according to biodynamic principles. The main varieties grown are the native moscato d'Asti, sangiovese, barbera d'Asti, langhe nebbiolo, barbaresco, and barolo.
