General Information

Séptima Gran Reserva 2020 is the highest expression of the winery, a wine of "alchemy". The best grapes of malbec, cabernet sauvignon, and tannat, from the highest plots of the winery (1050-1310 m above sea level), make up the coupage of a premium red wine defined by its great complexity and elegance.

For its production, the Argentine winery of the Raventós-Codorníu group Séptima worked each variety independently from the vineyard, paying attention to the optimal ripening points. The same care was taken in the choice of types of oak, cooperages, and barrel sizes. 50% of the musts underwent a pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature for 7-10 days, followed by fermentation at 28º C, with indigenous yeasts. The remaining 50% underwent more than 50 microvinifications: with whole clusters or berries, co-fermentations of varieties, different types of wood, selected yeasts, different temperatures... All the wines, identified by batches, remained in French or American oak barrels and vats for 18 months. After blending, the wine rests in the bottle for 6-12 months more, until its commercialization.

In the words of Paula Borgo, the winery's winemaker, the Argentine red wine Séptima Gran Reserva 2020 is "ideal to accompany hearty and high-calorie dishes. Additionally, it is recommended to open it half an hour before consumption" to reach its peak and perceive all its organoleptic qualities at the time of tasting.

Creators' opinion

The winery

Séptima

Bodega Séptima belongs to the Raventós Codorníu wine group, one of the families with the most extensive winemaking tradition in Spain (since 1551). Raventós Codorníu already owned six wineries in Spain when they decided that the 'seventh' – hence the name – would be established in a region that amazed the world with its potential: Mendoza, in Argentina. They arrived here in 1999, and in 2001 inaugurated their winery in the Agrelo district, in Luján de Cuyo (Mendoza), at the foot of the Andes and 1050 meters above sea level.

Today, Bodega Séptima is one of the most attractive wineries in Mendoza. The pillars of its philosophy are European heritage and expertise, a commitment to owning vineyards, the production of Premium wines, and respect for the terroir. Séptima's production reaches around 3 million bottles annually.
