Is there anyone who’s never heard of Godello? It’s the fashionable white grape that seriously rivals another variety native to northwest Spain, Albariño. The Bierzo region has a long tradition of cultivating this variety and it’s been making a powerful comeback lately. Señorío del Bierzo Godello 2024 is the best expression of the Godello grapes that grow on the hillsides of Bierzo, with an extra touch of distinction and quality that come from old, well-tended vines and ageing on the lees. No wine lover can say no to it.

Godello goes into making some of the best Spanish whites. This variety, typical of the northwest of the country, was on the verge of disappearing only a few decades ago but is fortunately making a strong comeback. Because it’s got everything: aromatic intensity, structure and ageing potential. Señorío del Bierzo Godello 2024 is a wine you can’t go wrong with and comes from one of the most important wineries of the D.O. Bierzo.
This white was grown on old, gobelet-trained vines between 45 and 55 years old that are cultivated on hillsides with clayey soils with slate. Harvesting was carried out manually. The grapes were cold macerated for 8 hours, followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats for 10 days and ageing on the fine lees for 3 months.
Señorío del Bierzo Godello 2024 (D.O. Bierzo) is ideal with rice dishes made from rabbit and vegetables or chicken casserole.
Vinos del Bierzo is one of the most traditional wineries and owner of some of the highest-quality and most sought-after vineyards in the Atlantic region of León. With more than half a century of history, it currently markets 40% of the wines under the D.O. Bierzo. A winemaking house that combines the most profound tradition with new technologies incorporated into its winery to serve its vast viticultural heritage (approximately 1,000 hectares), much of which consists of century-old vineyards.
