General Information

For its undeniable quality and uniqueness, Santa Digna Estelado Rosé is a surprising sparkling wine. This is because, for its production, the Torres family winery in the Andes, Miguel Torres Chile, chose to revive the país grape, a nearly forgotten variety introduced by Spanish missionaries back in the 17th century.

Santa Digna Estelado Rosé is characterized by its freshness and a rustic touch, provided by the variety, enhanced by an entirely traditional production process, following the standards of the Old World. The experience of the Torres family in the Penedès, the birthplace of cava par excellence, leaves its mark on this wine, which underwent its second fermentation in the bottle and was subjected to a carefully planned aging on its lees. The result is a brilliant single-varietal wine that, in the 2016 vintage, was awarded the title of Best Sparkling Wine in the World in the non-traditional varieties category at the international Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championship held in the United Kingdom.

The winery

Miguel Torres Chile was the first foreign winemaking company to establish itself in this country of the Southern Cone. The Torres family, a centenary saga with a presence in the Spanish denominations Penedès, Priorat, Catalunya, Costers del Segre, Conca de Barberà, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Rías Baixas, and Rioja, made the leap to the New World in 1979 to start a new project in the Curicó Valley, attracted by the great winemaking potential of Chile.

Currently, the company owns more than a thousand hectares of vineyards, distributed across plots with diverse climatic and soil characteristics, enabling the cultivation of different varieties and producing highly expressive wines with intense varietal character. Miguel Torres Chile has fully consolidated its position in the country, and its wines are now present in over a hundred other countries. Since 2010, Miguel Torres Maczassek, a member of the fifth generation of the family, has held the presidency of the company. Among his objectives are increasing exports and maintaining the company’s successful trajectory, marked by innovation and a commitment to organic farming and fair trade.
