Some wines are made as a tribute, designed to honour the name of someone who means a lot, such as to the Viñas Familia Gil winery. This red wine from the Rioja Alavesa area is named after the woman who cofounded the family brand more than 100 years ago. Rosario Vera 2020 (Excellent vintage) is a Tempranillo grown on vines more than half a century old. Rosario Vera 2020 (Excellent vintage) is a Tempranillo made from grapes that were grown on vines more than half a century old and picked by hand, plot by plot, and fermented in small tanks before being aged in French oak. A wine that’s a pure tribute, designed by one of the most important wine groups in the country to whom we’re bound by a long, intense friendship.
Ever since Juan Gil Jiménez founded his first winery in 1916 in the very centre of Jumilla (Bodega Juan Gil), the Gil family have continued to grow grapes and produce wines, generation after generation. Since 2002 the original winery has progressively acquired a series of small firms located in different Denominaciones, giving rise to the Viñas Familia Gil group.
Viñas Familia Gil boasts a long list of wines of varying characteristics that are made in different areas but have one thing in common: their focus on native grapes. Their wines are sold in more than 40 countries.
With Bodegas Rosario Vera, the family have fulfilled their dream of making fine wine in Rioja. The winery is based in the town of Laguardia and produces wines from grapes grown on vines located in small plots distributed around the Sierra Cantabria mountains, between the Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta subzones.
Rosario Vera 2020 (D.O.Ca. Rioja) is great with meats such as grilled entrecote or fish such as garlicky cod.
