Ribera del Cuarzo Clásico 2022 is born in the Valle Azul, Patagonia, a region characterized by its cold climate and stony soils that provide tension and freshness. The altitude and Patagonian breezes promote slow ripening, preserving aromas and natural acidity. The blend is dominated by the malbec grape variety, with a small contribution of merlot, achieving a balance between fruit, structure, and smoothness.
The harvest is carried out manually in 13 kg boxes to preserve the integrity of the fruit. Aging is divided between 70% in French oak for 8 months (with new barrels, second, and third use) and 30% in concrete vats, aiming for complexity without losing freshness.
Ribera del Cuarzo is a project led by Felipe Menéndez, the sixth generation of a family with over 150 years of history in Patagonia. After years of studying the Patagonian soil, he chose Valle Azul as the ideal terroir, on an estate that once belonged to the Italian countess Noemi Marone Cinzano. The winery's philosophy focuses on the pure expression of the landscape and the pursuit of authentic wines.
Ribera del Cuarzo Clásico 2022 pairs perfectly with red meats, pork, lamb, aged and semi-aged cheeses, salads, and mushrooms.
Ribera del Cuarzo Clásico is an intensely red wine with blue-violet hues. Aromas of red fruits and notes of wild vegetation from Valle Azul, integrated with the fine toast of the wood and hints of leather. On the palate, density and persistence, with natural freshness and creaminess that reflect the concentration of Malbec and its aging in wood.
