There are wines that exude nature from every angle, and this is the case of Quinta Quietud Colección Reserva 2017. Few wineries have the ecological and environmental concept so strongly embedded in their DNA as Quinta de la Quietud. Their vocation is to produce a wine fully integrated into the environment where their vineyard grows, with minimal intervention in the natural surroundings. That is why the entire process and viticulture are focused on achieving the true expression of a territory and the Tinta de Toro variety.
This Colección Reserva 2017 is a straightforward wine, unadorned and, above all, with the personality of an authentic red wine crafted in Toro. It is made 100% from Tinta de Toro grapes from the oldest vineyards of the winery, cultivated organically, in bush vines, and under dry farming conditions. Manual harvesting in 15 kg boxes. Natural spontaneous fermentation without added sulfites in open stainless steel tanks. It spent 6 months of winter in tanks with its fine lees and ‘battonnages,’ and finally aged for 24 months in French oak barrels.
At the end of the last century, an international trend swept through the lands of the Toro Designation of Origin. Some of the most prominent names in the wine industry took root in this Castilian-Leonese production area, drawing international attention to the region, including several figures from neighboring France. Amidst Vega Sicilia, the Eguren brothers, or Louis Vuitton, a French couple searching for old vines in one of the few places in the world where phylloxera had not penetrated—thanks to Toro's sandy soils—seemed to go unnoticed. Thus, in 1999, Quinta de la Quietud was born.
The French adventure was short-lived, and two years later, a group of entrepreneurs led by former footballer Eusebio Sacristán took control of the winery, dedicating all their efforts to a minimally interventionist and fully ecological approach for the estate and its excellent heritage located just two kilometers south of the left bank of the Duero River.
The winery has hectares of Tinta de Toro vineyards certified as organic since 2002, situated at an altitude of around 700 meters above sea level, in the heart of the production area.
