General Information

The fusion of Rioja tradition and modern oenology comes to life in wines such as Pujanza Norte 2020, from Bodegas Pujanza. A powerful and mature red, highly expressive with great acidity and freshness that are maintained vintage after vintage thanks to the consistency of the El Norte vineyard: 2.5 hectares in size, directly influenced by northern winds and cultivated at an altitude of 720 meters (very high for Rioja Alavesa) on clay-limestone soils settled over a limestone slab just 50 cm deep.

For the vinification of Pujanza Norte (D.O.Ca. Rioja), fermentation began spontaneously with light daily pump-overs, and concrete tanks and French oak barrels were used for aging, which lasted 12 months.

Behind Bodegas Pujanza (1998) is Carlos San Pedro, the third generation of a lineage dedicated to winegrowing and winemaking in Laguardia. His deep knowledge of the terroir has allowed him to gather over time one of the most coveted vineyards in Rioja Alavesa. 40 hectares of low-yield vines enable him to produce wines that are renowned and praised by international critics.
