Protos Sauvignon Blanc 2025 is a white wine from the D.O. Rueda that highlights Sauvignon Blanc and the freshest expression of the winery. It originates from a nocturnal harvest and carefully crafted production, with skin maceration and an ageing on lees of at least two months, a process that helps to enhance its volume and creates a very pleasant presence on the palate.
It comes from vineyards over 30 years old, a provenance that is evident in the overall seriousness and in that very recognisable Rueda style — direct but with nuance. This is a wine designed to naturally accompany everyday moments, with that fresh and lively touch that makes it easy to enjoy without losing personality.
Bodegas Protos is a house with a long-standing reputation linked to the region's prestige and a winemaking approach based on precision and respect for the vineyard. In this Protos Sauvignon Blanc 2025, the winery’s enological team’s touch brings balance and coherence to an up-to-date, expressive white that is very well crafted.

Vintage
This Protos Sauvignon Blanc preserves the freshness and aromatic profile of the grape with a nocturnal harvest. The collection is carried out at night to maintain the varietal expression, in a harvest designed to enhance its herbaceous, citrus, and tropical fruit notes.
Winemaking
A cold skin maceration marked the start. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes remained for 4 hours at 10 ºC, in contact with their skins, to extract aroma and freshness without losing finesse. Afterwards, the must fermented at a controlled temperature of 14.5 ºC, in a process designed to preserve the most pristine and expressive varietal profile.
Aging
It has been aged on its lees for at least 2 months.
Age
Made from old Sauvignon Blanc vines, over 30 years of age.
View
It displays a straw yellow colour with steel hints, very clear and bright. A sober and luminous visual profile, with a youthful tone that reflects freshness and liveliness in the glass.
Nose
Discover a nose of medium intensity, highlighting herbaceous and citrus nuances, along with a characteristic tropical fruit of the variety, providing a fresh, expressive, and very recognisable profile.
Mouth
It has a very pleasant entry and a freshness that invites drinking, supported by good volume and a long persistence that extends its memory on the palate.
Protos was (except for Vega Sicilia) the first winery of Ribera del Duero: founded in 1927 as a cooperative after the union of 11 winegrowers from the area, and one of the wineries that promoted the creation of the Denomination of Origin in Ribera del Duero (1982). Today, it is one of the most important wineries in Spain, and its wines are sold in 100 countries across five continents.
Located in Peñafiel, where the old and new wineries are connected by an underground tunnel. The old winery, exclusively dedicated to aging, has 2 kilometers of underground galleries carved into the mountain on which the castle stands, where the wines are aged under optimal natural conditions. The new facilities, with a spectacular design by the prestigious architect Richard Rogers, place Protos at the forefront of the wine and wine tourism scene. In fact, it is the most visited winery in the D.O. Ribera del Duero and was the first nationally to achieve the "mark of excellence" certificate by the prestigious international body Superbrands. Additionally, in 2013, Protos was recognized as "Winery of the Year" by Wine & Spirit magazine, and in 2022, it was named one of the 50 most admired wineries in the world by the prestigious international organization Drinks International.
Bodegas Protos owns 150 hectares of its own vineyards and also sources from its associates to craft its elegant wines. This carefully managed but extensive viticulture potential allows the allocation of each grape bunch to a specific type of wine. Another cornerstone of its philosophy is the constant renewal of its barrel stock (with a maximum of 4 years). Since 2006, Protos has also been present in the D.O. Rueda, where it produces Verdejo whites following the same high-quality standards. More recently, in 2019, it announced its entry into the D.O. Cigales.
