Protos Genesis 2024 and Familia Valdelana Reserva 2021
Two regions, two histories, the same pursuit of excellence
Spain is a country where wine forms part of the cultural identity, but some firms take this tradition to the next level. At Vinoselección, we’re lucky enough to work with wineries that view vineyards as living heritage and handle each vintage with an admirable thoroughness. These relationships have produced two red wines that represent the very best of their regions: Familia Valdelana Reserva 2021 and Protos Genesis 2024.
In Ribera del Duero, Protos has demonstrated yet again why it’s a historic name. Creating Protos Genesis 2024 was a painstaking process that our technical team was involved in right from the start, selecting base wines from different vineyards and aged for different periods to craft an exclusive red. The winery, which owns over 1,000 hectares of vineyards, offers a whole range of possibilitiesthat’s unique in the region, and this wine is the result of a collaborative effort focused on precision, structure and a distinct personality within Protos’s style.
In Rioja Alavesa, Familia ValdelanaReserva 2021 embodies the legacy of a family that's been making wine since the sixteenth century. It comes from Tempranillo and Graciano vineyards over 60 years oldthat grow in calcareous-clay soils and are harvested by hand. Twenty-four months in French and American oak barrels reflect an approach to winemaking based on patience, attention to detail and respect for a terroir that speaks clearly through each vintage.
Two wines like these brought together in the sameselectionare an exceptional opportunity for anyone looking for reds with history, depth and a distinct origin. Two different styles, two iconic regions and the same goal: to offer wines made to stand the test of time.
