Por eso nos alegra especialmente presentar esta propuesta: Protos Genesis 2024. Un ribera exclusivo que se situaría entre el Protos 9 Meses y el Crianza, pero con nuestro sello especial.
Nuestros técnicos han participado directamente en su elaboración, junto a la prestigiosa enóloga de la bodega, Marilena Boniña. Y así comenzó su génesis: seleccionamos 15 vinos base procedentes de distintos viñedos y crianzas (roble francés, americano, grandes depósitos…). Protos cuenta con un potencial vitícola excepcional, con más de 1.000 hectáreas, que le permite trabajar con una extraordinaria diversidad de uvas. Pocas bodegas ofrecen un escenario tan privilegiado para elegir, ensamblar y dar forma a un vino a medida como este.
A partir de ahí, fuimos afinando la selección hasta quedarnos con cuatro vinos base y, junto a Marilena, realizamos diferentes ‘coupages’ hasta encontrar el ensamblaje perfecto. Genesis 2024 es un vino que mantiene la filosofía de Protos, pero también es único y distinto: con más estructura, más potencia y mayor capacidad de guarda. Un Protos con nuestro estilo.

Beautiful cherry-red colour, very ripe with a purplish rim, very lively and bright.
Nose
On the nose it is direct, intense and fragrant. The initial notes are black fruits (sloes and black plum) followed by floral nuances (violets). In the background, crisp and intense spice notes (vanilla). A magnificent aromatic finish that recalls toasted oak and caramel with light notes of yoghurt whey.
Mouth
On the palate it is flavourful, with a good structure and a balanced profile between the fruity fraction and the notes contributed by its ageing in oak (spicy and subtle dairy echoes). It shows a mouthfeel with tannins of great quality with a good tactile expression and volume on the palate, and a perfect acidity that gives it vivacity. A long and persistent finish where spicy notes and black fruit stand out in perfect ripeness.
Protos was (except for Vega Sicilia) the first winery of Ribera del Duero: founded in 1927 as a cooperative after the union of 11 winegrowers from the area, and one of the wineries that promoted the creation of the Denomination of Origin in Ribera del Duero (1982). Today, it is one of the most important wineries in Spain, and its wines are sold in 100 countries across five continents.
Located in Peñafiel, where the old and new wineries are connected by an underground tunnel. The old winery, exclusively dedicated to aging, has 2 kilometers of underground galleries carved into the mountain on which the castle stands, where the wines are aged under optimal natural conditions. The new facilities, with a spectacular design by the prestigious architect Richard Rogers, place Protos at the forefront of the wine and wine tourism scene. In fact, it is the most visited winery in the D.O. Ribera del Duero and was the first nationally to achieve the "mark of excellence" certificate by the prestigious international body Superbrands. Additionally, in 2013, Protos was recognized as "Winery of the Year" by Wine & Spirit magazine, and in 2022, it was named one of the 50 most admired wineries in the world by the prestigious international organization Drinks International.
Bodegas Protos owns 150 hectares of its own vineyards and also sources from its associates to craft its elegant wines. This carefully managed but extensive viticulture potential allows the allocation of each grape bunch to a specific type of wine. Another cornerstone of its philosophy is the constant renewal of its barrel stock (with a maximum of 4 years). Since 2006, Protos has also been present in the D.O. Rueda, where it produces Verdejo whites following the same high-quality standards. More recently, in 2019, it announced its entry into the D.O. Cigales.
