Principia Mathematica 2023 is a great white wine born in the Ordal mountains from old xarel·lo vines. Made in a barrel, this delicate wine from Alemany i Corrió is fresh and honest, structured. All movements made in the production of this Principia Mathematica took place during the old moon. A good example of biodynamic viticulture.

Principia Mathematica 2023 is a magnificent white wine made primarily from the xarel·lo variety - although it contains 5% garnacha blanca - which was macerated for 24 hours with the skins to give the wine greater strength and character. It is a wine produced by the Alemany i Corrió winery, which uses the vineyard of a single plot located in Sant Pere de Molanta, in the Alto Penedés, and is cultivated with the xarel·lo variety, with an age of over 60 years.
Laurent Corrió and Irene Alemany met in Burgundy while studying oenology. Their passion for wine was reinforced by the creation of their first winery in Penedés in 1999. The vineyards of the Alemany i Corrió winery are located in Lavern. There they have 8 hectares on a gentle slope where they cultivate varieties such as merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and cariñena over 60 years old. In recent times, white varieties such as xarel·lo, chardonnay, and malvasía have also been cultivated.
Under the D.O. Penedès, the white wine Principia Mathematica 2023 has a limited production of less than 10,000 bottles. As for its production in the winery, it features alcoholic fermentation in French oak barrels and subsequent aging for 9 months, two-thirds of which are aged in wood and the remaining third in stainless steel tanks on fine lees. A white wine that ideally accompanies cooked seafood, baked white fish, rice with fish, and grilled white fish.
Principia Mathematica is a wine with a yellow color and golden reflections, clear and bright.
On the nose, it reveals citrus and fresh aromas of candied lemon peel and ripe peach, along with herbal notes.
On the palate, it is creamy, with very good acidity, light and fine.
The adventure of Irene Alemany and Laurent Corrió in Penedès began in 1999. From that very moment, they have been a benchmark in the region for their way of crafting and understanding the world of wine.
The winery started its journey in a small warehouse in Vilafranca del Penedès. Its protagonists are the aforementioned Laurent Corrió, biochemist and winemaker, and his wife, also a winemaker, Irene Alemany.
The winery's vineyards are located in Lavern, covering 8 hectares cultivated on a gentle slope (around 15%), where varieties such as 24-year-old Merlot, 26-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon, and 60-year-old Cariñena are planted. Over the years, white varieties like Xarel·lo, Chardonnay, and Malvasía have been gradually cultivated.
At the Alemany i Corrió winery, the unique vineyard management stands out, with significant restrictions on production, as they aim for greater phenolic concentration in their grapes. Regarding the local climate, it is also noteworthy that there is a clear Mediterranean influence with various microclimates and significant thermal variation.
The philosophy of the winery is to craft their wines following a process as artisanal as possible, highlighting the utmost fidelity to the terroir.
