The project of Bodegas Alonso del Yerro in the D.O. Toro finds its highest expression in Paydos 2019, a red wine made from tinta de Toro grapes sourced from ungrafted, bush-trained vines that are 80 years old. A concentrated, warm wine full of elegance thanks to its silky tannins.

Paydos 2019 is the red wine produced by the winery Alonso del Yerro in the D.O. Toro. The dedication of the family is reflected in a wine made with Tinta de Toro grapes from vineyards, some over 80 years old, located at more than 700 meters above sea level. These privileged vineyards, combined with the continental climate of the area, with extreme temperatures, give the wine its unique character.

Bodegas Alonso del Yerro was born from the project of the couple Javier Alonso and María del Yerro, with the collaboration of Stéphane Derenoncourt (consultant for several châteaux in Bordeaux) and the prestigious consultant Xavier Choné for matters related to soil, vineyards, and winemaking. Their philosophy, both in the vineyard and the winery, is to respect the natural essence of the wine and the terroir from which it originates.

After aging in French oak barrels, a wine with great fruit concentration and elegant tannins was obtained. Paydos 2019 pairs ideally with red meat dishes, meat stews such as oxtail, aged cheeses, or cecina.

Tasting notes

Paydos is a wine that boasts an intense cherry red color, with a very good depth, some youthful hints, clean and bright.

Clean and intense on the nose, it presents aromas of ripe fruit reaching compote, a background of cocoa, and balsamic notes.

Aromatic on the palate, fruity and spicy, with good structure, elegant tannins, and a finish of good persistence.
